MINSK, 19 May (BelTA) – Belarus treasures the trustful nature of relations with Azerbaijan, which is grounded in mutual respect for each other’s interests. Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko made the statement as he met with Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, the press service of the House of Representatives told BelTA.
Igor Sergeyenko conveyed cordial greetings and best wishes to the head of Azerbaijan from Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko. “Your relations, the relations between the leaders of our countries, which are characterized by a high level of trust and friendship, set a high bar for building relations between other government agencies,” the head of the House of Representatives noted.
Igor Sergeyenko emphasized that Belarus treasures the trustful nature of relations with Azerbaijan, which are grounded in mutual respect for each other’s interests, mutual support, and a commitment to practical results. He noted that the open dialogue and regular top-level meetings confirm the nature of strategic partnership of relations between the countries.
The speaker of the House of Representatives congratulated Azerbaijan on the successful hosting of the World Urban Forum and noted that the country possesses rich experience in holding prestigious international events as evidenced by the high organizational level of the forum.
Igor Sergeyenko drew attention to the contribution made to the advancement of the partnership by the parliaments of the two countries and expressed confidence that a comprehensive format of interaction at the level of all branches of power could play a key role in further strengthening multifaceted cooperation. He specifically thanked Azerbaijan for supporting Belarus in international organizations, stating that Belarus is also always ready to offer a helping hand to its Azerbaijani friends.
Prospects for developing relations in various spheres were discussed during the conversation and views were exchanged on expanding cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries. Igor Sergeyenko expressed confidence that the high level of Belarus-Azerbaijan relations will continue serving as a reliable foundation for mutual support and the development of cooperation in all areas.
BelTA reported earlier that a Belarusian parliament delegation led by Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko is on an official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan to participate, on instructions of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko, in the 13th session of the World Urban Forum held under the auspices of the United Nations Organization.
